TYPE DEFINITION.
typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language most appealing to learning and recognition. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point size, line length, line-spacing (leading), letter-spacing (tracking), and adjusting the space within letters pairs (kerning). Type design is a closely related craft, sometimes considered part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers. In modern times, typography has been put in film, television and online broadcasts to add emotion to communication.
Typography is performed by typesetters, compositors, typographers, graphic designers, art directors, manga artists, comic book artists,graffiti artists, clerical workers, and everyone else who arranges type for a product. Until the Digital Age, typography was a specialized occupation.

In 2001 Mathieu Lehanneur graduated from ENSCI-Les Ateliers (French National School for Industrial Design) and opened his own studio dedicated to industrial design and interior architecture. His work is known for blurring the lines between science, nature and art. LabGate was completed in 2012 for The Laboratory. The organization is a place of art and design at the frontiers of science, supported by the International Network ArtScience Labs, created by David Edwards (writer and professor at Harvard University).
We are drawn to the juxtaposition of the humanistic, geometric, san serif, custom typeface and the radiating line patterns rendered in metal.

Handmade Type is a self-intiated typographic experiment by designerTien-Min Liao, where she explores the relationships between upper and lower-case letters. She drew with ink on one or both of her hands to make the upper-case letter, then through movement and perspective she created the lower case letter.
We can’t seem to get enough of graphic design team Zim & Zou! Earlier this year, Zim & Zou created this “B” by designing a delicate frame made out of pieces of wood. This project, which they titled “Frame B”, creates collide-a-scope-like designs on its surroundings because of the pieces of red and blue translucent material within the frame. Graffiti
Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface, often in a public place. Graffiti ranges from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and it has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.
In modern times, paint (particularly spray paint) and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials. In most countries, marking or painting property without the property owner's consent is considered defacement and vandalism, which is a punishable crime.
Graffiti may also express underlying social and political messages and a whole genre of artistic expression is based upon spray paint graffiti styles. Within hip hop culture, graffiti has evolved alongside hip hop music, b-boying, and other elements. Unrelated to hip-hop graffiti, gangs use their own form of graffiti to mark territory or to serve as an indicator of gang-related activities.
Controversies that surround graffiti continue to create disagreement amongst city officials, law enforcement, and writers who wish to display and appreciate work in public locations. There are many different types and styles of graffiti and it is a rapidly developing art form whose value is highly contested and reviled by many authorities while also subject to protection, sometimes within the same jurisdiction.
Stencil graffiti
is a form of graffiti that makes use of stencils made out of paper, cardboard, or other media to create an image or text that is easily reproducible. The desired design is cut out of the selected medium and then the image is transferred to a surface through the use of spray paint or roll-on paint.
The process of stenciling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an image on a surface below. Sometimes multiple layers of stencils are used on the same image to add colours or create the illusion of depth.
Those who make and apply stencils have many motivations. For some, it is an easy method to produce a political message. Many artists appreciate the publicity that their artwork can receive. And some just want their work to be seen. Since the stencil stays uniform throughout its use, it is easier for an artist to quickly replicate what could be a complicated piece at a very quick rate, when compared to other conventional tagging methods.
